![]() May his memory be eternal Protopresbyter Father Nicholas Dotson, Proistamenos, fell asleep in the Lord on September 12th, 2008. He was born on November 22, 1952 as Scott Riley Dotson to Scott and Nancy (Riley) Dotson in Canon City Colorado. He was the first born, followed by two brothers, Matthew and John. He grew up in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from high school in 1971. After graduation he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. There he met Kedrann Mogren and they were married on May 24, 1975 at the ages of 19 and 22. Their first son Ryan Andrew was born on July 27, 1976 Their daughter Rebecca was born on August 23, 1984, and their youngest, Nicholas was born on April 19, 1986. Father Nicholas joined the Holy Orthodox Church in 1983 and was called to the priesthood in 1989. He attended Seminary at St. Tikhon's Theological Seminary in South Canaan, PA. There he was ordained to the Deaconate and served as a Deacon until his ordination to the priesthood in 1992. His first parish was St. Michael's in Old Forge, PA, which he served during his last year in seminary. He graduated from St. Tikhon's Seminary in 1993 and received his Masters of Divinity in 1994. In August of 1993 he was assigned to St. Mary's Holy Dormition Orthodox Church in Calhan, CO where he served for ten years. In August, 2003 he was assigned to Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, where he served until his death. Father Nicholas loved baseball, going to the movies, and a good joke. He had a passion for making people smile and he never turned away a person in need. His favorite hobbies were his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and spending time with his two granddaughters. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his service and devotion to the Holy Orthodox Church. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Goulet, brother Matthew, wife Kedrann, sons Ryan and Nicholas, daughter Rebecca, son-in-law, Landon, and granddaughters, Anastacia and Emily. He was an amazing priest, a wonderful husband, and a loving father to not only his children, but to all that knew him. He will be sorely missed! May his memory be eternal!
