![]() Metropolitan ISAIAH appointed Rev. Dr. George Dokos to serve as Proistamenos for Sts. Peter and Paul, beginning on December 1, 2008. Fr. Dokos was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Dimitrios and Vivian (Paraskevi) Dokos. He attended the University of Minnesota, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, before attending Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. Fr. Dokos received his Master of Divinity degree from Holy Cross in 1999. In 2001, Metropolitan ISAIAH assigned Fr. Dokos to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas, TX. He began as a lay assistant, was ordained to the Diaconate on Dec. 9, 2001 by Archbishop Demetrios, and to the Priesthood on Palm Sunday, April 28, 2002, by Metropolitan ISAIAH. Fr. Dokos then spent two years in Thessaloniki, Greece, studying at the Aristotle University. He began work on his doctoral dissertation on the sacramental theology of St. Nikodemos the Hagiorite. The following academic year, 2006-2007, Fr. Dokos returned to Holy Cross as the Fellow In Residence to continue work on his dissertation and on translating some of the writings of St. Nikodemos. Four of his translations have been published. He earned his Doctor of Theology (Th.D.) in February of 2010. In August of 2007, Metropolitan ISAIAH assigned Fr. Dokos to Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Sioux Falls, SD. This parish is similar to Sts. Peter and Paul in that it is a diverse Orthodox parish, with families coming from various backgrounds such as Serbian, Romanian, Greek and converts from other faiths. Fr. Dokos married Christa Gongopoulos in 2000, and they have two daughters, Paraskevi and Nikodimi, and a son, Dimitrios. If you want to contact Fr.
